The 2018 meeting theme is...

“Where We Meet”

In 2016, fiber artist Janet Echelman unveiled a dramatic 200 foot sculpture rippling in the breeze above the new LeBauer City Park in downtown Greensboro. The inspiration for the design of her piece “Where We Met” was the multiple railway lines converging on Greensboro and its numerous textile mills.

In the same way, many threads of our communities connect at our museums. We welcome new audiences, promote new perspectives, and collect local culture. Our museums strive to be gathering places. We anchor economic development, present community stories, and provide learning experiences for everyone. By connecting with our communities, large and small, museums can survive and even thrive under today’s challenging economic and cultural conditions. This Call for Proposals invites you to share your experiences and lessons learned in sessions focused on how your museum is making a positive impact in your community.

SPEAKER POLICY: Speakers do not receive a fee, free registration, or travel considerations for their participation in the NCMC annual meeting. Presenters who attend only their own session and engage in no other conference activities do not have to register.

Completed proposal forms are due Friday, September 30, 2017. Selected proposals for the final program will be confirmed by November.

Thank you in advance for helping to make the 2018 conference an exchange of valuable information and ideas - as well as a rejuvenating and FUN experience for us all!
